Post Surgical / Post Immobilization Rehabilitation

Fractures and related injuries are a critical factor in your recovery. Often, following surgery or a period of immobilization, patients experience decreased strength, flexibility and overall function.

Physiotherapy can help ensure that you are following rehab protocols to optimize proper healing and help you return to your activities of daily living and/or your elite sports. Our goal is to help you return to your sport or life activity and perform better than before your surgery.

IMS/Dry Needling

IMS, or Intramuscular Stimulation, involves gently inserting a thin needle into a tight muscle, which can stimulate muscle contractions or twitches.

This technique helps to reset muscles to their natural resting state, easing pain from tight knots, enhancing flexibility, and relieving pressure on joints. It’s effective for addressing movement issues and ca help with nerve-related pain.

IMS can be a great addition to a comprehensive treatment plan, combined with exercises and other hands-on therapies for lasting relief. After an IMS treatment, it’s common to experience some soreness and stiffness for up to 48 hours.

Radial Shockwave Therapy (Swiss DolorClast)

RST is a excellent alternative for people with chronic pain associated with heel spurs, plantar fasciopathy, tennis/golfer’s elbow, achilles tendonitis, shoulder calcification, frozen shoulder, and many other conditions that cause chronic pain.

RST is the application of high-energy acoustic pulse transmitted into the tissue of the affected area of the body. Each Radical Shockwave treatment works to increase the metabolic activity around the site of pain or discomfort, stimulating the reabsorption of irritative calcium deposits in tendons and to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, thus reducing pain.

Vestibular/ Concussion Rehab/Vertigo (BPPV)

Our physiotherapists can perform both vision and balance tests as well as general physical and cognitive exams to assess the degree of your dysfunction and/or rule out any serious signs for further medical attention. Once an assessment is performed, we will likely create a customized and evidence-based vestibular therapy plan.

FAQS ABOUT OUR PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICES

Your Physiotherapy Questions

  • Your first visit is all about you. It's a 1-on-1 assessment where we'll discuss your history, assess your movement, and create a personalized plan. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

  • IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation) is a technique our certified therapists use to release tension in tight muscles. It can be highly effective for chronic pain, muscle tightness, and headaches.

  • No, you don't need a referral to see a physiotherapist in B.C. However, some extended health plans require one for reimbursement, so it's always best to check your specific plan.

  • We make it easy. As an approved ICBC provider, all you need is your ICBC claim number. Once you have it, you can book your initial assessment online. We bill ICBC directly, so you can focus on your recovery without worrying about user fees.

  • Great question! Physiotherapy is focused on diagnosing an issue and restoring function through manual therapy and exercise. Massage (RMT) is focused on treating the body's soft tissues to relieve tension. They work great together!
